Schools all across the country are having cutbacks and budget issues. Everyone has experienced the feeling of getting money cut from districts and I was interested to read what one struggling district did to save money. The article discusses a district in Arizona that has had a lot of cuts but the district has the most success in Arizona and all excelling. The article discusses some ways that the district has saved money such as: Moving positions around, using the internet, using materials wisely, asking for things, and going paperless just some of the things. I feel that some of the tips are easy to implement and all schools could incorporate a few of the tips easily.
My district has recently had major budget cuts. They have tried a lot of ideas such as: 4 day weeks, layoffs, taking away art and music and furlough days. All of their solutions not only seem to hurt the schools and communities, but we keep coming up short. This article mentions some really simple ideas that could work over time.
ReplyDeleteThe items mentioned in the article are great but I wonder how much it shaved off of the budget. As our classmate mentioned above other districts are doing more drastic cuts probably because of the amount needed to balance the budget. But I do agree, if these simple solutions were implemented it could help in some way. School districts should look into them to be proactive in this area.
