An Internet Field Trip: Exploring the Arctic by Dogsled/ EduTopia

An Internet Field Trip: Exploring the Arctic by Dogsled

This topic/resource in this article was very interesting to learn about!  It introduces a site called GoNorth! which students can interact with online.  It is a neat idea for the children to have a field trip by using the computer.  The classroom is able to log in and follow actual people who are traveling through the Arctic.  The class can actually video chat with the people throughout their journey.  It is also free, which is a big selling point.  The website is currently being worked on but I am going to keep checking to see how engaging it is.

  1. My students would love this! I have used a few interactive field trips with my students, and they are so engaging! I just finished teaching about biomes including the arctic tundra, so I am going to have to bookmark this website for next year! Thanks for sharing!

  2. What a great website, especially that I am teaching about the Arctic right now (Canada) and my students love to learn about this region. I have had an unusual group that can not learn enough about the Arctic. I will share this website with them. Thanks!

  3. I have to admit that I looked at this site for my own knowledge, lol!! Since I raise Alaskan Malamutes (and have taken in dogs and spoken about Arctic expeditions to NUMEROUS elementary school classes ever since I was myself in elementary school), I just had a natural interst in the topic. I am going to share this with teachers I have visited over the years...it seems kids love this topic!
